West Bengal Civil Service is popularly known as W.B.C.S, is the civil service of the Indian State of West Bengal. Public Service Commission of West Bengal arranges competitive exams for various posts which are divided into group A, B, C & D. The exams are in three phases every year- Prelim Exam, Main Exam, and Interview.


Eligibility Criteria:

  • A degree from a recognized University
  • Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali.


  • Must be between 21-36 years are eligible for the exam for services and posts included in Group A, C, & D.
  • Must be between 20-36 years are eligible for West Bengal Police Service Only (i.e. Group “B” Service)


The exams are in three phases every year-

  1. Prelim Exam,
  2. Main Exam

Course Duration: 1 year

Class Details:

  • Weekdays: 3 days a week for 3 hours a day.
  • Weekends: 2 days a week for 4 hours a day.

  • Inspector of Co-operative Societies
  • Panchayat Development Officer under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department.
  • Rehabilitation officer under the refugee relief and rehabilitation department.
